Whether you’re visiting Michigan International Speedway (MIS) for the first time or returning for another unforgettable race weekend, a bit of preparation goes a long way. Planning ahead helps you beat traffic, stay comfortable, and make the most of everything the event has to offer.
Arriving early is the best way to keep your day stress-free, especially on Sunday. Gates usually open around 7–8 AM, and getting there by late morning gives you time to explore the Fan Zone, soak in the pre-race energy, and check out interactive exhibits before the biggest crowds arrive.
You’re allowed to bring your own snacks and one sealed bottle of water per person, which can help save money throughout the day. October and November typically bring mild weather to Michigan – warm afternoons and cool evenings – so pack light, wear sunscreen, and bring a refillable bottle to stay hydrated.
Traffic around the speedway can be heavy before major events, so plan your route in advance and give yourself extra travel time. General parking is free, but closer lots fill quickly, making early arrival even more worthwhile.
Once inside, take a stroll through the Fan Zone and the midway before heading to your seat. You’ll find plenty of food stands, displays, and official merchandise trailers. If you’re attending with friends or family, agree on a meeting spot in advance – cell service can slow down when the crowd grows.
