RULES FOR VISITORS

As with all NASCAR events, fans attending the NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway are required to follow the venue’s rules and regulations. Security staff will be on-site throughout the weekend to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Prohibited items

To protect the safety and comfort of all guests, certain items are not allowed inside the facility. Any object that could present a hazard, disrupt the event, or cause discomfort to others is strictly prohibited – this includes the unauthorised resale of tickets or merchandise.

All attendees will go through a security screening before entering. Those who refuse inspection may be denied entry without a refund. To prevent any inconvenience at the gates, visitors are encouraged to check the Speedway’s official list of prohibited items in advance. Below are some of the most commonly restricted items (note: this list is not exhaustive):

  • Aerosol cans (except sunscreen, sunblock, hand sanitizer, and bug spray)
  • Bags, backpacks, or containers larger than the permitted size
  • Balloons, beach balls, Frisbees, or any other projectiles
  • Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, hoverboards, and roller skates
  • Chairs (collapsible)
  • Clothing that is obscene or indecent
  • Coolers (foam or hard-sided, regardless of size)
  • Confederate flag displays
  • Drones (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles – UAVs)
  • Dry ice
  • Fireworks
  • Glass or ceramic items of any kind
  • Illegal substances
  • Laser pointers
  • Noisemakers and air horns
  • Seat cushions with metal components
  • Selfie sticks
  • Tripods and monopods (solid or collapsible)
  • Wagons
  • Weapons (firearms, knives, etc.) and any items restricted by local, state, or federal law, including pocket knives

What you can bring

To make your NASCAR Cup Series weekend at Michigan International Speedway as smooth and enjoyable as possible, pack light and bring only the essentials. Recommended items include your phone, a portable charger or extra camera batteries, some cash, and your race tickets for each day. Adults should have a valid photo ID, and it’s also smart to carry identification for any children attending. Keeping your belongings to a minimum will make the security screening quicker, letting you spend more time enjoying the excitement on the track.

The following items are allowed inside Michigan International Speedway:

  • A maximum of two (2) bags per person through the admission gates
  • Backpacks, diaper bags, clutch bags, and fanny packs (must not exceed 18” x 18” x 14”)
  • Cameras, binoculars, scanners, and headsets (may be worn around the neck, on a belt, or carried inside an approved bag)
  • Cigarettes and lighters
  • Clothing and blankets
  • Flags representing nationalities, attached to a pencil-sized wooden stick (must not obstruct another fan’s view)
  • Ice
  • iPads, tablets, and laptop computers
  • Insulated cups (maximum 64 oz) – must be empty upon entry
  • Seat cushions without metal components
  • Service animals
  • Soft-sided cooler (one per guest, maximum 14” x 14” x 14”, may contain ice)
  • Sunscreen, sunblock, hand sanitizer, and bug spray (in aerosol, gel, or liquid form)
