Michigan International Speedway is one of NASCAR’s most iconic venues, combining fast racing, passionate fans, and the relaxed summer atmosphere of the Great Lakes region. Located in Brooklyn, Michigan–about 70 miles west of Detroit–this 2-mile oval has been a favourite among drivers and fans alike since it first opened in 1968.
The track’s wide surface, smooth layout, and high banking create some of the fastest speeds on the NASCAR calendar, often topping 200 mph. With multiple racing lines and plenty of room for side-by-side battles, Michigan regularly delivers intense competition and unpredictable finishes. The grandstands offer excellent visibility across the oval, and the open layout makes it easy for fans to enjoy every part of the race day experience.
Michigan typically hosts a single NASCAR Cup Series event each summer, drawing tens of thousands of spectators to one of the sport’s most scenic and fan-friendly venues. The event weekend blends exciting on-track action with a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere that captures the spirit of Midwestern racing.
Off the track, the Fan Zone keeps the excitement going with live entertainment, interactive displays, sponsor exhibits, and driver appearances. Fans can enjoy local food, music, and games before heading to their seats to watch the green flag drop.
A trip to Michigan International Speedway is more than just a race–it’s a celebration of NASCAR’s speed, community, and tradition. Whether it’s your first visit or part of your yearly summer plans, this track always delivers an unforgettable experience.
